Luna gives the catalyst to Dr. Susan Lee Hughes to study in the lab. Dr. Hughes explains to Luna that she is infected with growth energy and simply has not yet shown any symptoms. Dr. Hughes hypothesizes that Luna is an energy battery meaning that she can absorb a lot of energy without being affected, but once her capacity is reached will start exhibiting growth symptoms to an extreme degree.
